5-Minute Meditation for Busy Moms: How to Stay Focused in the Chaos

5-Minute Meditation for Busy Moms: How to Stay Focused in the Chaos

Although motherhood is the most noble task in the world, it's a fact that managing all the tasks and juggling between them could be challenging for any of us. Mental wellbeing for moms can be the perfect starting point if you were looking for some opportunities to help mothers in stress relief and a good solution for self care. Meditation for busy moms could be your most important asset to be the mindful mom your family needs the most.

With this simple practice, you can boost your mental wellbeing, reduce stress and improve your focus. If you only have 5 minutes in the morning, you are in the right place. With the following mother meditation technique you can reset your mind and find calm in the chaos of motherhood.

Start with breathing

Believe it or not, busy mom meditation starts with breathing. Take a seat, close your eyes and focus on your breath. Inhale deeply through your nose, hold for 3 seconds, then exhale slowly through your mouth. Repeat it at least 8 to 10 times, until you feel yourself calmer. This is the best way to start a meditation, because focusing on breathing helps you find your way back from your loved ones to yourself, and yourself only.

Scan your body

Mental wellness for moms continues with a body awareness exercise. Start from your toes and slowly work your way up through your body. Pay attention to each body part: toes, legs, torso, arms, shoulders, neck and head. Stroke these parts of your body in your mind with the same tenderness you would your children in the evening. Notice where you feel tension and try to release it.

Daily affirmations, the perfect closing of any busy mom meditation

Choose one or two positive affirmations that are close to your heart. You can go with "I am capable of handling whatever comes my way" or "I find peace within myself, no matter what". Repeat these phrases in your mind, or even out loud.

Incorporating meditation into your daily routine

Try this short meditation practice as soon as you wake up, before beginning to juggle your to do list. You can also incorporate it while you are having a break in the middle of your day: try this practice in the kitchen, the bathroom, or anywhere you can steal a few peaceful moments. The key is to find yourself a few minutes each day, to take care of yourself like you always do with your family members.
